When Christopher Columbus landed on the shores of Hispaniola in 1492, he unleashed a wave of violence and oppression that would shape the course of history for centuries to come. The Spanish conquest of the Americas was a brutal affair, and the indigenous peoples of the region suffered greatly under colonial rule. Today, the United States is still struggling to come to terms with its history of violence and oppression. The specter of homeland security looms large over our society, and we are constantly bombarded with messages about the dangers of terrorism and the need to protect our nation from foreign enemies. But in order to truly secure our homeland, we need to address the root causes of violence and oppression, both at home and abroad.
We need to start by acknowledging the history of colonialism and imperialism, and the ways in which it has shaped our current world. We need to learn from the mistakes of the past, and commit to building a more just and equitable future for all.

Why Fighting Homeland Security Since 1492 is Necessary
I was born in a small town in the mountains of Puerto Rico. My family has lived there for generations, and we have always been close to the land. We grow our own food, raise our own animals, and live off the fruits of our labor.
When I was a child, I would often go into the forest to play. I would climb trees, swim in the river, and explore the caves. The forest was my playground, and I felt safe and at home there.
But everything changed when the US government decided to build a border wall on our land. The wall cut through our forest, separating our community from our sacred places. It also made it much harder for us to travel to and from our homes.
The construction of the wall was just one of many ways that the US government has tried to control our lives. They have imposed their laws on us, taken away our land, and tried to assimilate us into their culture.
I have seen firsthand the damage that the US government has done to my community. I have seen families torn apart, homes destroyed, and livelihoods ruined. I have also seen the way that the US government has treated our people with contempt and disrespect.
I am fighting against Homeland Security because I believe that it is a tool of oppression and colonialism. I am fighting for the right to live in peace and to be free from the US government’s interference.
I am fighting for my home, my family, and my community. I am fighting for the future of Puerto Rico.
